Tierra Luna not downsized, still on track officials say
WRITTEN BY :   Eric Pierce

City officials today said a blueprint for the Tierra Luna retail development posted online by a brokerage firm is incomplete and inaccurate.

The draft is posted on the website of Western Retail Advisors, which is soliciting tenants for the 77-acre, $170 million development.

Downey officials, however, said the rendering is outdated and omits several key planned developments, most notably a 150-room hotel on the southern part of the property and a new fire station on the eastern boundary.

The Western Retail Advisors website also said the development will be anchored by a 155,000 square foot Walmart. Downey officials didn’t deny that Walmart could open at Tierra Luna but said a lease has not been signed and any such announcement is premature. (Western Retail Advisors later scrubbed the Walmart reference from its website.)

As far as the name, “The Promenade at Downey” is a working title and is subject to change, officials said.
