Five things to know this Thursday morning:

1.) Former Downey finance manager Maurina Lee has been named director of finance at the Port of Long Beach. She was with the city of Downey from 2006 until last year.

2.) Arnold Adler at the Wave has a great preview of June's primary election.

Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia and Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard have opposition, and Congresswoman Janice Hahn is the leading favorite to replace Don Knabe on the board of supervisors.

3.) Downey High created a recruiting video for junior basketball guards Lynette Garcia and Danise Herrington.

Lynette has nice range from three-point territory while Danise isn't scared to attack the rim.
