Five things to know this Friday morning: 

1.) Charles Phoenix is in Downey to conduct first-person research for his Saturday show, "Up With Downey."

2.) Keep Downey Beautiful will meet behind St. Matthias High School tomorrow at 9 a.m. for a community clean-up. 

No registration is required and tools are provided. 


3.) Warren High students Crystal Cantoran and Caroline Perez have created a Downey Historical Society Club. Pretty cool to see kids taking an interest in local history.


4.) The Island neighborhood is hosting its 12th annual community garage sale tomorrow, starting at 7 a.m. 


5.) Warren High football hosts Gardena at 7 p.m. tonight, while Downey High is on their bye week. 

Warren's girls tennis travels to Paramount at 3 p.m.
