Five things to know this Monday morning: 

1.) A delegation from Downey Sister Cities Association is traveling to Roscommon, Ireland today for a 10-day official visitation. 

The delegation will include artist Maureen Gaffney-Wolfson, who created 18 portraits for the Easter Uprising Centennial. The portraits were done in 24 karat gold and oil paints. 

Stauffer Middle School student Alexandra Juarez also is part of the trip.

“She is one of the many students we hope to have participate in future student exchanges,” said Denise Juarez, president of Downey Sister Cities.

2.) Meet the Downey Fire Department's two newest firefighters/paramedics. 

3.) Here is a cool story about Leonardo DiCaprio and his connection to Downey. 

4.) Jimmy John's is now open at the Downey Landing. They deliver. 

5.) The Downey Police Department's Baker-to-Vegas relay team finished fourth in its division over the weekend. It was the best time in the department's history. 

Downey police officers ran the 120-mile race in honor of their fallen comrade, Ricky Galvez.
