Monday morning report, Sept. 26

Five things to know this Monday morning:

1.) A fire near the San Gabriel Riverbed temporarily knocked out power to several Downey homes yesterday. A reader tweeted us the above video.

And last week, firefighters knocked down a "suspicious" fire at Warren High.

"The building was evacuated as firefighters extended hose lines and ventilated the smoke from the structure," the department reported on Facebook. "The cause of the minor fire was determined to be intentional."

2.) There's now a stop sign heading into the Promenade from the Lakewood Boulevard entrance.

3.) I second this tweet.

4.) Warren High band took home a bunch of awards at a competition at West Torrance High School over the weekend.

The Bears walked away with three first place awards (Auxiliary, Percussion and Band), and sweepstakes awards for Visual Effect and High Music Effect.
