Thursday morning report, Feb. 18

Five things to know this Thursday morning:

1.) Jimmy John's, which I mentioned a couple days ago is opening at Downey Landing, will hold a job fair this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

The restaurant is hiring for sandwich makers, delivery drivers and assistant managers.

2.) Downey First Christian Church's Women's Circle is holding a yard sale tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with funds going to "families with special circumstances."

The yard sale will be at the east corner of Cole and Brookshire. If you have items you'd like to donate, call Nour Arencibia at (562) 331-1033.

3.) Joseph's Bar and Grill is hosting a launch party tonight for Smoke Boudoir, a new hookah and cigar lounge at 8321 Firestone Blvd.

Tonight's event is from 7-10 p.m.

4.) The city of Downey has several job openings, including a paid internship for a municipal law clerk. Apply online

5.) Downey High's boys basketball team beat Montclair last night to advance to the second round of CIF playoffs.
