Thursday morning report, March 3

Five things to know this Thursday morning: 

1.) Gaucho Grill at the Promenade is hiring barbacks, line cooks, bartenders, waiters and waitresses, bussers, hosts, dishwashers, and a general manager ($65K a year). Apply online here

2.) The Downey Chamber of Commerce is hosting a "Let's Do Lunch" networking event at noon today at Lazy Dog Cafe. Cost is $20 at the door. 

3.) The city of Bellflower is hiring recreation leaders and lifeguards. Deadline to apply is Friday. 

4.) Dr. Nina Smart, a member of Soroptimist International of Downey, will honored as one of state Sen. Tony Mendoza's Women of the Year during a gala event tomorrow night at the Cerritos Library. 

Dr. Smart has been outspoken in her efforts to raise awareness of female genital mutilation around the world. Her memoir is available on Amazon.

5.) A liquor store on Imperial Highway, just east of Paramount Boulevard, is for sale. Asking price: $110,000.

The store comes with a (sigh) 30-year lease.
