Five things to know this Thursday morning: 

1.) Benihana is now hiring for its Downey location, signaling that the restaurant is close to opening at the Promenade. 

Open positions include hosts, bartenders, servers, restaurant manager, and a variety of chef jobs. Apply online here

2.) City officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday for Centerpointe, the 117-unite townhouse complex at Paramount Boulevard and 7th Street. 

Built by KB Homes, the townhomes range from 1,679 to 2,124 square feet and are projected to be sold in the mid- $650,000 range. 


3.) Teacher Janet Oleary is warning others after her purse was stolen from a Downey classroom and her credit cards were used at a Target store in Long Beach. 

 "It is clear that this criminal is targeting teachers in Downey," she writes.


4.) Dodgers legend Tommy Lasorda visited Chris & Pitts in Downey this week. 


5.) Speaking of former Dodgers, Eddie Murray has been added as a celebrity guest at the 10-20 Club's annual golf tournmanent, taking place this Friday at the Rio Hondo Golf Club.

Check-in starts at 10 a.m., followed by lunch at 11 and a shotgun start at noon.
