3.) The Locker Room of Downey downtown is hiring. For details, email

4.) Cerritos College is hiring for a Student Affairs Assistant position. You don't need to be a student to apply, and the pay is $14.32 per hour.

Here are details on how to apply.

5.) A petition is circulating online seeking to stop Walmart from opening at the Promenade in Downey.

"[When] it comes to a brick and mortar store, we want a store that will embellish our neighborhood and community, not cheapen it.  Walmart is not going to bring clientele to Benihana or upscale restaurants.  Walmart will take plenty of business from our local low cost establishments."

The petition is addressed to Mayor Pro Tem Alex Saab and city manager Gilbert Livas.
