Tuesday morning report, May 10

Five things to know this Tuesday morning:

1.) The Downey City Council meets tonight, but the agenda is a little different than usual.

The meeting begins at 5 p.m. with tributes to L.A. County Supervisor Don Knabe, who is termed out of office later this year.

The regular meeting begins at its usual time of 6:30 p.m.

2.) One of the more interesting items on the agenda are the results from a recent downtown parking study.

According to the study, downtown Downey suffers from parking signage that is "inconsistent and, at times, confusing." The study recommends consistent parking time restrictions throughout the downtown.

The study also noted that there is minimal enforcement of parking restrictions, and that Downey Avenue "appears to be at maximum occupancy throughout the entire day."

3.) Council members will consider 3% pay raises for executive and middle management.

4.) Cool Craigslist item of the day: an over-sized Downey Buick license plate frame.

5.) I made a ton of updates to the Downey events page yesterday. If I missed anything, please let me know.
