Sorry for the lack of updates the last couple of days. As you can imagine, it's been incredibly hectic and surreal the past several days.
Five things to know this Tuesday morning:
1.) Service information has been announced for slain Downey police officer Ricky Galvez.
A rosary and vigil will take place Sunday, Nov. 29, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Downey Civic Theatre. The funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 30, at 9 a.m. at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
Graveside services with full police honors at Rose Hills Memorial Park will immediately follow the funeral.
All services are open to the public.
2.) Former Downey firefighter Clarence "Bud" Baloun died Oct. 26, the Downey Fire Department announced. He was 81.
Baloun joined the department in 1962 and retired in 1982.
3.) Downey High grad Romney McGil Stewart died Nov. 13 at the age of 68.
Stewart played football and participated in student government at Downey High. After graduation, he would go on to become director of solid waste management for Salt Lake County, Utah.

4.) Downey High's playoff run ended last Friday night when a Vikings field goal attempt to win the game was blocked.
