Wednesday morning report, April 13

Five things to know this Wednesday morning: 

1.) Downey residents are being warned to avoid the intersection of Lakewood Boulevard and Telegraph Road due to pavement work that begins today. 

Traffic lanes will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and turns will be restricted at certain times. 

"Major traffic delays are expected and, therefore, alternate routes are suggested," city officials said.

2.) Downey Grocery Outlet -- located in the former Fresh & Easy building -- is hosting a job fair May 14-15.

3.) As part of Downey's 60th anniversary celebration, the Casa de Parley Johnson will be open for tours Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

The open house is hosted by the Assistance League of Downey and Downey Historical Society. Special guests include Mayor Alex Saab and author Nicholas Curry

5.) Warren High sophomore Brooklyn Araujo has been named the Press-Telegram Athlete of the Week.
