Wednesday morning report, April 20

Five things to know this Wednesday morning:

1.) Downey Relay for Life has its kick-off today at Bob's Big Boy restaurant.

From 5-9 p.m., you can learn about Relay for Life, and the programs and services offered by the American Cancer Society. The kickoff is also a fundraiser, so Bob's Big Boy is donating 20% of all food and beverage purchases to the Downey Relay for Life (must show this flyer).

2.) That empty lot at Firestone and Rives that was rumored to be a Starbucks will instead house a Valvoline oil change center.

3.) A man was arrested near the Rio Hondo River after leading police officers on a slow speed chase early this morning.

It's unclear what the man was wanted for, but Twitter users reported that the man was doing doughnuts and was maybe naked

4.) Also this morning residents reported hearing up to six gunshots in south Downey at around 3 a.m.

5.) Dates have been announced for the fifth annual GlennFest Movie Festival in Downey: Sept. 24 through Oct. 6.
