Wednesday morning report, Feb. 3

Five things to know this Wednesday morning: 

1.) Vallarta Supermarket opens at 8 a.m. today at the former Beach's Market site at Imperial Highway and Paramount Boulevard. The first 400 people in line receive a thank-you gift.

"Downey Vallarta Supermarkets is now a proud community partner!" the store wrote on Facebook

2.) MOD Pizza's grand opening has been postponed one week. The restaurant will now open Feb. 10 at noon. 

3.) The Columbia Memorial Space Center will be part of Long Beach Comic Expo later this month. 

"We will have exhibits and interactive demonstrations on the comic expo floor, and will have space-themed panel discussions both days from organizations like JPL, Virgin Galactic, and the Planetary Society.  Stay tuned for more information about who will be speaking!"

4.) Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia is accepting nominations for Woman of the Year. Deadline for nominations is Feb. 12. 

5.) Musician Jay Nixon will perform at Mambo Grill this Saturday at 7 p.m.
