Wednesday morning report, Oct. 14

Five things to know this Wednesday morning:

1.) Mayor Luis Marquez is holding a community forum at 6 p.m. tonight at Golden Park.

"I encourage our residents to come out and join me for an evening of discussion about recent happenings in our community," said Marquez. "This is a great opportunity for our residents to also share any concerns they may have and provide suggestions on how we can improve our city."

2.) In case you missed it, a Q&A with artist Don Lamkin, whose solo exhibit opens at Stay Gallery on Oct. 23.

3.) Work crews have begun repairs on Lakewood Boulevard between Telegraph and Gallatin -- which is fantastic news -- but some people will complain about anything.

4.) Downey Federal Credit Union staff participated in the CHOC Walk Sunday on Sunday. Here are some photos

5.) George Redfox will be leading a tour of historic downtown Downey this Saturday morning. Meet at the corner of Downey Avenue and Firestone Boulevard at 9 a.m.

The tour is free but donations for the Downey Conservancy are appreciated.
