The Long Beach City Council will consider offering a series of economic incentives to Tesla Motors on Tuesday, the Press-Telegram reported today.
Tesla has named Downey and Long Beach as finalists for an electric vehicle production facility.
Citing a letter from Long Beach city management to the city council, the Press-Telegram says the council will consider offering Tesla a 50 percent tax rebate for sales generated in Long Beach for 10 years, $2 million in loans for facility upgrades and "other economic incentives."
The report says Tesla has been "regularly meeting" with Boeing and city officials, according to an unnamed source.
Downey approved its own incentive package last week with Industrial Realty Group, owners of Downey Studios.
A Tesla representative told The Downey Patriot last week only that, "We won’t have anything to announce until we have something to announce.”

What the issue here is, is that hopefully Tesla will chose Downey and no one is at fault. We, as a city, did our best to entice them here.
Sorry for my out burst...we are all free to have our own opinions...but sometimes people go overboard.
Also: Never tell anyone to keep quiet, they'll just have to leave a snarky answer in return.
I think you had better stay out of politics, and keep your remarks quiet. What will happen when we get a new mayor and Mr. Guerra is no longer in the forefront? You'll find a way, right ?
ann bayer... ann bayer has never returned an email from me. and i live in her district. i won't assume she is actually ignoring my email, so does she not use email? get with the program Ann, COMMUNICATE WITH PEOPLE, this is 2009, going on 2010. we need progress at the top, and unless she somehow figures out how to get with it, she's a step backward.
