Nine arrested at Pico Rivera checkpoint

PICO RIVERA - Three people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, and another for allegedly driving while high on marijuana, during a checkpoint last Friday night in Pico Rivera.Sheriff's deputies also took into custody two people for illegal possession of narcotics and one person for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive a car. Authorities nabbed one person for driving on a suspended license and another driver for having no license at all. The checkpoint was held on Rosemead Boulevard, just south of Mines Avenue. Future checkpoints are planned for Super Bowl Sunday next month and again on St. Patrick's Day weekend in March.
