Girl fights off would-be kidnapper

ARCADIA - A six-year-old girl playing with friends at an Arcadia park was able to fight off a man who attempted to kidnap her in broad daylight.The girl was with friends in the picnic area at Arcadia Park at about 3:35 p.m. when the suspect, Jason Macklin Dell, allegedly grabbed her by the hand and began dragging her out of the park. The girl screamed and fought, managing to free herself after she had already been dragged 100 feet. She ran to her mother who called 911. Arcadia police officers arrested Dell, who is 33 years old. The girl was physically unharmed. Authorities said Dell is a transient. He was arrested for kidnapping and annoying a child and is being held in lieu of $400,000 bail.
