Group gives thousands in scholarships, donations

DOWNEY - Seven students received scholarships totaling $1600 at an awards and scholarship night sponsored by the Italian Catholic Federation.Six graduating students of St. Raymond's School - Lauren Loera, Jessica Costo, Elysa Garcia, Sarha Melendez, Crystal Montanez and Isabel Santamaria - each received $200 scholarships. High school graduate Alexander Johnson received $400. Meanwhile, the Italian Catholic Federation also made donations to local charities, as well as Cooley's Anemia and St. John's Seminary, totaling $8,850.
