Library celebrates manga comics

DOWNEY - Teen fans of manga comics will want to be at the Downey City Library next week.On Tuesday, library staff will make a perler bead version of teens' favorite manga character. Perler beads are small beads with holies in the center and can be placed in any shape or pattern. When a little heat is applied, they stick together to form a solid shape. Then on Wednesday, Nori Shariasu will teach teens the art of Japanese calligraphy. The library will provide all supplies. Both programs begin at 4 p.m. in the library's Cormack Room. To register, call (562) 904-7360, ext. 132.
