Library group grateful for donation

DOWNEY - The Friends of the Downey City Library accepted a "generous" donation at the Downey Coordinating Council's community service awards and installation dinner last Thursday.Council president Cindy Galindo presented the check to Friend's president Pat Smith. The amount of the donation was not disclosed. "At a time when the city is struggling to keep its budget in line, the Friends are able to fund programs and needed library purchases," the Friends of the Library said in a statement.
