Crime Report

Tuesday, Aug. 19 At 2:30 p.m., officers responded to the 8200 block of Firestone Blvd. regarding an attempted robbery investigation. Officers spoke with the victim who reported he was walking when an unknown male approached him.  The male hit the victim and tried to take the victims cellular phone.  The male suspect was unable to take the phone and ran away after a few seconds.  The victim was not injured.  Detectives are investigating.

 

Wednesday, Aug. 20

At 6:55 p.m., officers were in the area of Fostoria Avenue and Newville street when they conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.  Officers asked for Downey Police K-9 Officer to respond to assist with the traffic stop.  K-9 Officer Duke was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.  A search was conducted and a substantial amount of marijuana was located.  The driver also had a large amount of U.S. currency.  The driver was arrested for possession of narcotics.  Detectives are investigating.

 

At 8:35 p.m., officers responded to the 10300 block of Dolan Street regarding a deceased person. When officers arrived they found an 18 year old male deceased in his bedroom. Officers spoke with family members and foul play is not suspected. The death appears to be accidental.    Detectives are investigating.

 

Thursday, Aug. 21

At 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the area of Lubec and Norlain Streets regarding an assault with a deadly weapon investigation. Officers met with the victim who reported he was riding his bicycle in the area when a vehicle pulled alongside him. A male occupant inside the vehicle fired 2 shots from a firearm hitting the victim one time. The victim sustained a moderate injury and was treated at a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.  Detectives are investigating.
