Family members excel in school

DOWNEY – A brother, sister and two cousins all made the academic dean’s list at their respective schools for the spring semester. Senior David Joseph Alvarez, an OLPH graduate, finished his college career at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences while making the academic honor roll in his last spring semester.

Freshman Karina Alvarez, David’s younger sister, also made the dean’s list at Loyola Marymount University as a biology major. She will intern at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for the summer.

Sophomore Nicolas Navarro, their cousin, also received academic honors at Loyola Marymount in the school of business. He presently interns at Center Theater Group in Los Angeles.

Freshman Javier Navarro, a Downey High graduate, made the honor roll at Loyola Marymount while pursuing interests in law. He is also currently enrolled for a minor degree in English.
