Festival for military families

DOWNEY – The Living Tree Foundation will celebrate Blue Star Family Day, an event honoring families with loved ones currently in the Armed Forces, on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11 am. to 4 p.m. at Downey High School. The event is free to the general public.

Activities include live music, food trucks, silent auction, raffles, vendor booths, military vehicle displays, and more.

Rick Rodriguez, founder of the Living Tree Foundation, said the purpose of Blue Star Family Day is to “help active military families pre-plan before their loved ones return home.”

“If we can provide only one resource to them on this day that they did not know of, then we’ve done our job,” he said.
