Norman Ewart Horney

Norman Horney (aka Dad, Brother, Uncle, G'pa, Friend) passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday October 5, 2014 at his residence in Downey, CA. A native to the UK, he was a Captain in the Special Duties squadron in the Royal Air Force during World War II stationed in Southeast Asia. While attending flight training in Miami, Oklahoma, he met the love of his life, Grace Elisabeth Bitticks (Bettina). After the war he married Bettina and moved to California, had 2 children, Ross Alan and Constance, and lived the American dream.

Norman worked his way through the ranks at Consolidated Rocks Product Company and retired as an Assistant Secretary after 38 years of service. He was an active participant in the community of Downey, where he and Bettina resided for 61 years.

Norman is survived by a big loving family: wife Bettina, son Ross Alan Horney, his wife Donetta Horney, and their two sons Christopher and Dustin; daughter Constance St. Amand, her husband Daun St. Amand, and their three daughters Ashley, Lea and Gabrielle; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews around the country. Norman was predeceased by his brother Alan Horney.

Norman will be most remembered for his kind nature, British accent, mastery of the fork and knife during meal time, the Horney college scholarships, and his all around awesomeness.
