Students go barefoot to raise money for needy kids

Students at St. Pius X – St. Matthias Academy will be attending classes barefoot tomorrow to raise money and awareness for needy children who lack access to proper footwear. According to a press release by TOMS, which is sponsoring the fundraiser, “students are encouraged to attend classes and school activities in bare feet to raise global awareness for children’s health and education and experience what it’s like for millions of children worldwide who spend every day without shoes.”

Participating students will each donate a minimum of $2.

All donated money will be given to St. Vincent’s Catholic School in Nthare, Kenya to help purchase footwear and school supplies for their students.

Fr. Ken Deasy will also give a special mass Tuesday at St. Piux – St. Matthias where he will share experiences of his missionary work in Kenya.
