Symphony fundraisers coming up

DOWNEY –The Downey Symphony will hold a flapjack fundraiser tomorrow, Sept. 13, from 8-10 am, at Applebee’s, 12129 Imperial Hwy (corner Norwalk Blvd), Norwalk. Tickets will be available at the door for $10 ($5 is a tax-deductible donation). The meal will be served by Downey Symphony Board members and includes pancakes, eggs, potatoes, bacon, orange juice, and coffee.

Also, the Symphony’s keynote fundraiser, a Mad Hatter Garden Party, takes place at Rio Hondo Event Center on Sunday, Sept. 21, from 3-7 pm.  Everyone is encouraged but not required to wear an elegant hat, and hat wearers will be entered in a special drawing.

The afternoon’s festivities include themed decorations, entertainment by the USC Brass Quintet, drawings and a live auction for valuable prizes, cocktails, and a dinner.  Tickets are $65.
