Downey conducting earthquake drill

DOWNEY - The city of Downey is participating in the Great California ShakeOut next Thursday, Oct. 17, evacuating all major public buildings as part of a state-wide earthquake drill.City Hall, police and fire stations, the library, senior center and space center will all be evacuated at 10:17 a.m. Crews will complete windshield damage assessments throughout the city, and City Hall will activate its emergency operations center and perform a tabletop exercise incorporating simulated earthquake scenarios.
