Santa Claus calling Downey children

DOWNEY - Downey children ages 4-8 can receive a phone call from Santa Claus through a free city program titled "North Pole is Calling You."To participate, parents or guardians should fill out a registration card that aks for information on each child, including name, pronunciation of name, gender, address, hobbies and interests, school and holiday wish list. Santa Claus will call the children Dec. 18-19 between 6-7:15 p.m. He will have a brief chat with each child and "check Santa's Workshop to see what he can do." Registration cards will be available at the Parks and Recreation office at 7850 Quill Dr. starting Tuesday and through Dec. 17. For questions, call (562) 904-7238.
