Martha Reynolds helped form NDLL

DOWNEY – Longtime Downey resident Martha Reynolds passed away July 20 at Artesia Christian Home. She was 89.

She and her husband, Russ, moved to Downey in 1950, raising two boys, Mike and Lucky, both of whom attended Downey High School.

Born in Whitehall, Mont., Martha Reynolds came to California in 1935 and graduated from Hollywood High School in 1937.

She helped establish North Downey Little League and was active in the Lions Club with her husband.

She was also a volunteer at the Downey City Library and belonged to Downey First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her two sons, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
