DOWNEY – Both Downey and Warren girls volleyball have been eliminated from the CIF playoffs.
At home, the Warren girls were able to eliminate Campbell Hall, beating them 25-21, 25-22, 17-25, 27-25. Being able to win the first two sets helped Warren keep the momentum in their quarterfinal match and ultimately put away Campbell Hall for good.
Warren, however, was eliminated by Los Altos on Tuesday in the semifinals.
Downey, a team with high hopes and expectations this year, advanced to the quarterfinals but fell to Palm Springs, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22.
The straight sets loss eliminated Downey and ultimately ended their season. The turning point for the Downey girls was the upset loss against Warren in their final game of the season.
With the loss, Downey had to split the league championship and was given the No. 2 seed in the CIF playoffs after tie breakers.
