It's not an official announcement, but it's a good sign nonetheless.
Councilman Mario Guerra said yesterday he was contacted by Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk who said he wished to donate 100 Tesla Roadster remote-controlled cars to local needy children.
The toys are expected to arrive today. Guerra said the cars will be distributed through the TLC Family Resource Center, PTA HELPS, Angel Tree, and the police and fire departments.
Did Long Beach receive a similar donation? A Tesla spokesperson did not immediately return a phone call for comment.
*Updated with photo and statement by Mayor Anne Bayer:
"We are extremely thankful and appreciate Tesla’s generosity. Our local needy children willhave one more reason to smile about this holiday season."
