DOWNEY – Downey Art Vibe, in association with the Downey Scene, a cultural programming initiative of the city of Downey, will host a photo exhibit Thursday at the Downey Theatre.

The one-night event is titled “Ambivalence: A Photo Exhibition” and will showcase the works of two local artists, Valentin Flores and Gabriel Enamorado, who goes by GabeOne.

“Not only have we scored by being able to show the works of these two talented photographers, but I believe we’re setting an example for younger artists in our community,” said Joanne Rapadas, community outreach manager for Downey Art Vibe. “Those who attend will (be) able to see people who grew up in Downey be successful in their artistic craft and it will inspire people to pursue their passion.”

Flores and Enamorado, both natives and products of the Downey school system, will unite their contrasting photographic subjects at the exhibit. While Enamorado has an affinity towards shooting urban and industrial pieces, Flores is a travel photographer who focuses on natural landscapes and candid portraiture.

The exhibit begins at 8 p.m. The photographers will lead a brief discussion at 9 p.m.

Admission is free for all ages. Public parking is available outside the Downey Theatre.
