Friday, June 6

 At 6:15 p.m., Downey police officers received an alert from a License Plate Reader on a vehicle wanted in connection with a felony committed in the city of Long Beach. Officers located the vehicle and stopped it without incident at Downey and La Villa. The vehicle's two occupants were not the named suspects in the Long Beach case; however, they were both arrested after being in possession of drug paraphernalia.   

At 10:25 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault where a 17-year-old Downey resident was standing on the corner of Lakewood and Rose when he was approached by the suspect, a 22-year-old male. The suspect asked the victim where he was from and then punched the victim in the face causing an abrasion and a bloody nose. The victim defended himself and a fight ensued. The suspect was ultimately arrested for Assault.

At 11:10 p.m., Downey police officers received an alert from a License Plate Reader on a vehicle wanted in connection with a felony committed in the city of Montebello. Moments later, Stonewood Security located the unoccupied vehicle in the mall parking lot. At the request of Montebello PD, our officers initiated a recovery of the stolen vehicle.

At 11:55 p.m., a resident called to report a transient trespassing on their property in the 9900 block of Downey Sanford Bridge. Officers responded and located a 40-year-old female who refused to leave the premises. She was arrested for trespassing.

Saturday, June 7

At 2:40 p.m., the male victim, who is an admitted gang member, was followed by the suspect in his vehicle from the market at Woodruff and Foster. The driver of the suspect vehicle began shooting at the victim in the area of Cornuta and Belcher. The victim stopped his vehicle on the front lawn of a home on the 13200 block of Eastbrook where the shooting continued. The victim sustained three gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives are investigating.

 

Sunday, June 8

At 5:05 a.m., Downey police officers responded on suspicious subjects looking into vehicles in the area of Wiley Burke and Noren. Officers located an unoccupied stolen vehicle parked in the area with the engine still warm. Officers surveilled the vehicle and minutes later, two male suspects entered the vehicle and began to drive away from the location. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle failed to yield. Officers pursued the vehicle into the city of Montebello where the suspects stopped the vehicle at a dead end and fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued and unfortunately officers lost sight of the subjects as they climbed over a wall in an industrial area. Officers checked the area for the suspects but were unable to locate them.  The vehicle was recovered.

At 7:10 a.m., a Downey police officer attempted to stop a vehicle with a warrant attached to the license. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and the brief pursuit was cancelled. An LASD Sheriff's helicopter was overhead and continued to provide updates on the vehicle's location. The vehicle turned into a parking lot in the area and was involved in a minor collision with a parked car. The suspects fled, but were apprehended a short distance away by Downey officers. It was later discovered that the driver had attempted to force entry into a residence to hide from police, but failed. A handgun was found near the path of the pursuit and the driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Both the driver and passenger were arrested.

At 9:05 p.m., two male suspects entered the Auto Zone (13028 Paramount Blvd) armed with a handgun. The suspects were confronted by the store's armed security guard. The suspects shot one round at the security guard and fled the location on foot. No one was injured as a result of the shooting and no loss was taken. Detectives and Forensics were called in to process the scene and investigate.

At 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a call of a subject threatening to harm himself with a knife in the 9000 block of Gallatin Rd. Officers were able to detain the subject without incident. Officers transported the subject to Kaiser Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
