Downey Police Department detectives spoke at Downey Los Amigos Kiwanis

Downey Police Department detectives Jerry Price and Mark Galindo were the guest speakers at this week’s Downey Los Amigos Kiwanis meetings. The detectives offered several tips on how to avoid becoming a burglary victim, including purchasing a home surveillance camera system; hide valuables; use large safes (600 lbs. or more); install outdoor lights; and keep lights and even a radio on inside the house when nobody is home.

Residents were also advised to avoid letting anyone unfamiliar into the backyard, including people who may be posing as construction or utility workers.

Downey Los Amigos Kiwanis meets Wednesdays at 7 a.m. at the Rio Hondo Event Center. The public is welcome.
