DOWNEY - Services were held Nov. 20 at Forest Lawn in Cypress for longtime Downey resident Mary Louise Pickett, who passed away Nov. 11 following a lengthy illness.She was born Feb. 12, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio. She moved to California as a young woman and worked to put herself through nursing school. She worked at Rio Hondo Hospital in Downey for a number of years, and later worked at Downey Community Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Thomas Pickett Jr., in 2007, and her younger sister, Dorothy, in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Ryan) Rose, of Hawaiian Gardens; sister-in-law, Violet (Vernon) Lee, of Downey; nieces and nephews, Ann Millard, April Detterich, Bill Lee, Tom Lee and Mike Lee, and their families; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great nephews.
