Steven M. Yniguez Jr.

Marine Lance Cpl. Steven M. Yniguez Jr., a lifelong resident of Downey, was deployed to Afghanistan on May 7. Yniguez attended Rio San Gabriel Elementary and Unsworth Elementary, East Middle School and graduated from Downey High School in 2007. He enlisted in the Marines during his senior year and graduated from boot camp in November, 2007. Yniguez went to Camp Pendleton for three months and was then assigned to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland for four months.
