A dump

Dear Editor:Let's get realistic. The Avenue Theatre was a dump in its final years. The seats were filthy, the carpet torn, and people would only go there to make-out in the back row (or possibly worse). Those are the reasons movies were so cheap there. I can count on one hand what we need in Downey: a classy white-cloth restaurant, a Trader Joe's, a new car dealership, and a book store. Children need a place too, but it shouldn't be at the Avenue. I propose the Downey Museum of Art. - Frank Perez, Downey
