A Moroccan-themed party to benefit the Downey Symphony

DOWNEY — The Downey Symphonic Society invites you to sample the many moods of Morocco, a kaleidoscope of sights and sounds to awaken your senses, at the Afternoon Garden Party on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 3-7 pm at the Rio Hondo Event Center.

Imagine the aroma of orange blossoms and the magic of flying carpets. Pat Gil and her committee are recreating the exotic atmosphere of a colorful souk. But instead of the labyrinthine marketplaces of Marrakesh or Fez there will be tables of silent auction items, and some very special live auction items. $75 donation includes an array of finger foods and desserts.

Wear your caftan or your long flowing djebella, or your guyabera, and enjoy live music and refreshments with your friends.
