This Saturday, June 7, the city of Downey will welcome two of boxing's most respected figures, Abner Mares and Gabriel Rosado, for a special live recording of their popular "Mi Gallo" podcast at the Men's Wellness Fair.

The event, aimed at promoting men's health and well-being, will feature the former champions discussing topics that transcend the boxing ring.

Abner Mares, a Downey resident, is a four-time world champion across three weight divisions. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and raised in Hawaiian Gardens, Mares overcame early life challenges to represent Mexico in the 2004 Athens Olympics and later secured titles in the bantamweight, super bantamweight, and featherweight divisions.

Beyond the ring, Mares has been active in community outreach, emphasizing the importance of education and resilience.

Gabriel Rosado, known as "King," hails from Philadelphia and has been a fan favorite for his tenacity and willingness to face top-tier opponents. With a professional record of 26 wins, 17 losses, and 1 draw, Rosado's career includes memorable bouts against some of boxing's elite. Since retiring in 2023, he has transitioned into commentary and co-hosting the "Mi Gallo" podcast with Mares.

The Men's Wellness Fair will take place at Apollo Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to the live podcast recording, attendees can access free health screenings, fitness demonstrations, food trucks, and family entertainment.
