Auction items open for bid

DOWNEY - October's silent auction items are now on display in the foyer of the Downey City Library.Some included books are "Saturday Shrines, College Football's Most Hallowed Grounds," a grand tour of 40 of the nation's most historical and beautiful stadiums; "The New Yorker 1950 - 1955," a nostalgic look back at 40 "New Yorker" covers and 450 black and white cartoons; "The Frankenstein Diaries," translated and edited by Rev. Hubert Venables, a unique book about the true story behind one of the most horrific and compelling legends of all time. Bids can be placed in the Friends Book Store inside the library before noon on Oct. 31.
