Basketball coach to host camp

DOWNEY - Downey High School basketball coach Larry Shelton will hold his annual summer basketball camp June 21 - July 8 in the Downey High gym.The camp will meet Monday through Thursday, from 8 -10 a.m. Boys who will be in grades 4-9 in September are invited to attend. Cost is $125 and includes a Downey basketball jersey and shorts. Shelton, who has conducted the camp for the past 25 years, will teach the fundamentals of basketball. Incoming high school freshmen will play in a summer league against other schools. Shelton is a two-time L.A. Times coach of the year and has more than 300 victories at the varsity level.
