DOWNEY - Downey Adult School students Erica Rodriguez, Sarah Padilla, Rosa Rodas and Aileen Amamoto qualified recently to take the California Shorthand Reporters Examination to be held June 25 in Los Angeles. The exam is given three times a year and is the equivalent to a bar exam, school officials said. It is a two-day test, with academic subjects tested on the first day and machine dictation on the second. The last exam was administered in February and all Downey Adult School court reporting students "did exceptionally well." Students must pass all speed tests up to and including a 200-word per minute qualifier test with four live readers. Speed tests must be passed with 97.5 percent accuracy.
