Business license apps now online

DOWNEY – Prospective Downey business owners can now apply to renew their business licenses online by going to the city’s website, downeyca.org, and clicking the “Online Business Licenses” icon on the homepage. Established businesses already were able to renew their licenses online, as well as pay outstanding business license balances.

The new feature allows prospective businesses to avoid a trip to City Hall and apply for a license online.

“We are committed to enhancing our technology efforts to better serve our residents and business community,” said Mayor Fernando Vasquez. “We are excited to be able to offer online business registration for our local businesses and soon, we will also be launching our online water bill pay system, which is expected to go live in early 2015.”

Business owners can still apply for a license in-person by visiting the Planning Department, located on the first floor of City Hall.
