Carrie Uva earns endorsement from Greater Downey Association of Realtors

DOWNEY — Carrie Uva, candidate for Downey City Council District 4, announced she has earned the endorsement of the Greater Downey Association of Realtors, a professional trade association representing real estate professionals throughout the greater Downey area.

The endorsement reflects Uva’s longstanding involvement in the local real estate community and her support for private property rights, homeownership and policies that protect property owners.

“Property rights are fundamental to homeownership and to the stability of our community,” Uva said. “As someone who has worked in real estate for more than 30 years, I understand how decisions made at City Hall can affect homeowners, property owners and small businesses. I believe local government should respect private property rights, protect homeownership and make sure residents have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their property.”

Uva is a licensed real estate broker and attorney specializing in wills and trusts. She has lived in Downey for more than 60 years and has built her professional career and community service in the city.

She has also maintained a longstanding relationship with the Greater Downey Association of Realtors, receiving its Realtor Associate of the Year Award in 2014, Volunteer of the Year in 2024 and 2025, Service to the Community Award in 2020 and Distinguished Service Award in 2023.

The Greater Downey Association of Realtors was established in 1947 and serves real estate professionals throughout the greater Downey area. Among its advocacy priorities is protecting private property rights and advancing issues affecting housing and the real estate industry.

Uva has served on the Downey Planning Commission since 2021 and currently serves as chairperson. She also chairs the Measure S and Measure D Citizens’ Oversight Committee and serves on the Downey Chamber of Commerce board, the Downey Community Emergency Response Team executive board and the Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board.

She will bring her experience in real estate, law, planning and local government oversight to the City Council, with an emphasis on protecting neighborhoods, supporting small businesses and respecting the rights of property owners.

Uva is running to represent District 4 on the Downey City Council.
