Charges filed in fatal Downey crash

DOWNEY – The other driver involved in a traffic collision that took the lives of a L.A. County District Attorney investigator and his wife is being held on $4 million bail, Downey Police said in a press release.

At approximately 2:05 pm on Oct. 8, Downey residents Emilio Guerrero, 52, and Annabel Guerrero, a 47-year-old teacher who had previously worked in the Downey Unified School District, were killed in a traffic collision that occurred at the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Gardendale Street. Both died at the scene.

The other driver involved, 60-year-old South Gate resident Aurelio Banuelos, was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

On Oct. 20, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of murder and two counts of vehicular manslaughter against Banuelos and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Downey Police immediately placed Banuelos under arrest and brought into custody.
