Christmas play at local church

DOWNEY - A 45-member choir will lend its voice to a Christmas play this weekend at First Baptist Church of Downey."One Special Christmas" follows the frantic Christmas Eve escapades of a contemporary family that finally slows down long enough to find Christmas in a place they had forgotten to look: a manger. The choir will participate in a traditional Christmas Eve candlelight service, focusing on the Biblical account of Jesus' birth. The play is free and begins at 7 p.m., Dec. 18-20. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. First Baptist Church of Downey is at 8348 3rd St.
