DOWNEY — The City Council has scheduled a special meeting Tuesday at 3 p.m. to discuss its proposed 2019-20 fiscal budget.

The proposed spending plan totals nearly $260 million, a 2.7 percent increase from the current fiscal year, which ends June 30.

“When developing the budget proposal, the Council has directed that staff continue the high quality programs and operations at the same level of effort from the previous fiscal year, with additional expenditures stemming only from the Measure S related activities and bond-funded construction program,” City Manager Gilbert Livas wrote in a report.

The public meeting will be held in the council chambers at City Hall.
