Cpl. Mike Pope, president of the Downey Police Officers' Association, was joined by fellow officers in delivering new toys and gift cards to needy families last Dec. 23. They were assisted by Downey police explorers and members of the Miss Downey court. Many of the toys were donated by local businesses and residents, and police officers held a toy drive softball tournament. Titan Transportation also donated toys and helped deliver them using their tow trucks. "All of the kids' faces lit up when they saw the police cars and the tow truck coming down the street with all of the toys," Pope said.
