June 1: At approximately 7:40 a.m., Officers responded to a “Man Down” call in the 12600 block of Izetta Ave. Witnesses advised a male was assaulted and was possibly deceased. Officers began life saving measures. Downey Fire transported the victim to St. Francis where he was later pronounced deceased. It was discovered the Victim and the suspect were involved in a physical altercation and the victim ultimately fell to the ground and died. The suspect fled the location in his vehicle. Detectives later located the suspect in another city and arrested him.

June 2: At approximately 7:10 p.m., Officers located a stolen vehicle at Firestone Blvd. and Woodruff Ave. The vehicle was occupied by two people. The driver was taken into custody and arrested without incident. The passenger was arrested for possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

June 3: At approximately 12:30 p.m., approximately 150-200 protesters gathered on the east side of City Hall to protest the passing of a male in police custody in Minnesota. The protesters marched approximately 2 miles through the city. The protest was peaceful and concluded a few hours later.

June 4: Detectives are investigating a stabbing that occurred at about 9 p.m. near Downey Ave. and Firestone Blvd. The victim was walking when the suspect approached him and immediately stabbed him in the stomach then fled. The victim was dropped off at Downey PIH by his girlfriend. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. The victim’ s injuries were not life threatening.

June 5: At approximately 12 p.m., approximately 200-250 protesters gathered west of City Hall on Civic Center Drive to protest the passing of a male in police custody in Minnesota. The protesters marched on Firestone Blvd. to Woodruff Ave. and returned a brief time later. The protest was peaceful and concluded a few hours later.

June 7: At approximately 7:15 p.m., Officers received a call of shots fired in the area of Downey Ave. and 2nd Street.  A caller gave a description of the involved vehicle that fled the area.  Officers stopped a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle and the passenger admitted to shooting a firearm in the air.  Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody. Detectives responded to conduct the follow-up investigation.

June 10: Detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred at about 8:30 p.m. near Imperial Hwy. and Bellflower Blvd. The male victim was walking when he was approached by two suspects. One suspect struck the victim with an unknown object. The suspects then took the victim’s property and left eastbound on Imperial Hwy. The victim sustained minor injuries.

June 12: At approximately 4:10 a.m., Officers located an occupied stolen vehicle in the 11400 block of Paramount Blvd. The female driver was arrested and the vehicle was recovered.

June 13: At approximately 6:15 p.m., Officers responded to a traffic collision at Brookshire Ave. and 11th Street. The collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was transported to St. Francis Medical Center where he was listed in critical but stable condition. The female driver remained at the scene and did not display any signs of impairment.

June 14: At approximately 11:30 a.m., Officers located an armed and dangerous vehicle at Florence & Downey that was used in a homicide in Los Angeles. The vehicle was occupied by a male adult. A high risk traffic stop was conducted and the male was detained. LAPD detectives were notified and the vehicle was impounded.
